Yesterday evening a special despatch received inthe city stated that tire with its destroying effects had again visited the western section of the province. In the afternoon the house of Wm. In the house was $250 in cash. tion with S. A. THE Park is the dullest place imaginable, just at this season l of the year, because it tal-us _people to make life and stir and the at- mosphereis just a little cool, at least to stay out there. The most of those who visit it walk through the many roads and alleys. In the Park things look like house cleaning. The leaves and other debris have been gathered up and everything is being done to make it look brand new., The trees stand up bare in regular line:-'. It is ` possible to count them now, but when the leaves come out they will be bunchei together. \Vinter always contorts the walks, etc., but beyond the natural warp- ing the bicycle track around the Park will be in a. safe navigable condition. The musical part of ihe entertainment was he ird with grand effect. All of the soloists were in ez~' cellent voice and the nature of the select- ions would keep the most stolid audience in a. glow of laughter. The different _preformers are too well known to need _individual comment but the solo of Mr. Charles Earle may be men- tioned without at all detracting anything from the others. As the air present time it might be expeetrd simply bring down the house which it did. The recitation of Miss Helen \Va.r- burton, The cavalry sword drill, the se- lections by the St. Cecelia Club and the Orchestra, in shortcach and all were fully up to the expectations of the aud- ience andthe performers one and all fully sustained their reputations. In the rendering of Pauline it is unnecessary to particularizc las each of the different characters ` did his or her part so well. Mr. Charles " Earle strongly impersonated Captain. Western, the-ty pical criiél father as re- gards his dang'hter’s love-affairs. Miss Florence and Amy Earle as Pauline West- ern and Clara Rivers respectively acted their parts exceedingly well. The repeat- ed hursts of applause by the audience showed clearly that though they went there expectinga great deal they were in nowise disappointed and though t'ie entertainment was somewha t lengthy, being nearly two and n half hours in the rendering, no one was weary or wished for the curtain to fall. Mr. Earle ni d the performers of last night certainly deserve the gratitude of the theatre going public of Charlottetown for so often providing for their recreation. The entertainment was one that is made possible through thejoint efforts of anifisterly conductor and trained soloists and performs". The many lovers of music will hope that Mr. Earle willagain favor them at,a not too distant day.
