n- §5EIYTEMBER 2s. g 1941 MASS MEETING 0F FARMERS Interested In , _ HOG MARKETING AND PURCHASING OP LIVESTOCK FEEDS will be held in the CANADIAN LEGION AUDITORIUM GRAFTON STREET, CHARLOTTETOWN FRIDAY AFTERNOON, SEPTEMBER 26TH AT TWO (YCLOCK There are mainly, four classes interested in this inex- cuseable strike between the Packer and Packing House em- plgyee, now exercising its paralyzing effect all over Canada- irom Coast to Coast, viz: The Packer, the Packinghouse Worker, the Consumer and the Livestock Producer. The first three have been heard from, but the producer has as yet remained silent, although he will ultimately be the main goat, bearing the major portion of the loss. Livestock producers all over Canada must launch the greatest protest ever displayed by an under-dog, IMMEDI- ATELY, if they are to be saved from utter ruination. Let us initiate the movement here in Prince Edward Is- land, soberly, sanely, but with determination. Drop every other urgency and attend this mammoth meet- ing on Friday afternoon of this week and show Canada that - Island formers will not take imposition and injustice, lying down. Freezout For Charitable Purposes The bidding was fairly good up to the point at which South called seven diamonds (although his pre- vious jump to four hearts mill! well have been a little stronger) but the final selection was utterly lacking in imagination. North, it is true, had shown good diamond support. and later. by his obvious cue bid. had shown first-round spade control, but nevertheless South should have foreseen that ii: might be vital toplay the hands at a heart contract. North might well have one or two losing spades in his hand which would go off l very nicely on South's long diam- ’ onds, but if diamonds were trump, and l! North had the same heart length that South had, how could any discards be secured? South's heart support was so ex- if North's suit had been only a four-carder, the combined hands would have played one or two, possibly three tricks better at hearts than at diamonds. This is an important principle and it will repay readers to study this typical illustration. 30STON 31, lliiiiiiS iLY Ftitill“ Fillers M°"°T°" ’“'/|:AtL m or 2001 Convenient Return flights FI-e from Mcocten $28.95 plus tax . f Mi% THE WINGS OF NEW ENGLAND we‘ By Ken Reynolds Tiaras-en --—Q.
