Saturday night witnessed one of the quietest celebrations of Hal- lowe‘en in many years and a mini- mum of damage was reported. The Halloween party for all ages, spon- sored by the Georgetown Coni- munity Weifsrs League, no doubt aided materially in s sane and en- tertaining evening for all. The second annual Hsllowe‘en party sponsored by the Georgetown Welfare League was held in the Town Hall on Saturday night. Practically all children of the town attended and also a large number of parents. Costumes representing all characters of the historic, hum- orous and fictional past. present and future were in evidence and gave to the whole proceedings a Madi Gras appearance. Bingo was indulged in by young and old and many were smiled upon by lady luck. Apples and candy were pass- ed around to all present. after which a lovely lunch, which was generously donated by the ladies of the Town. was served. During the summer Mr. Johnston coiii- pleted painting and redecorating the exterior of the United Church in Sturgeon, and also the dwelling houses of Messrs Cameron Reid, and Lowell S. Johnston of Murray Harbour North. The annual Christian Young People's Society Convention was held at the Central Christian Church in Charlottetown. Saturday and Sunday, October 30th and 31st, with representatives from all over the Island attending. Extensive repairs are nearing com- pletion on the government wharf at. Clowls Shore. The work done by the Dominion Government. was carried on under the supervision of Mr. David W. Miller. This wharf has been in a very dangerous state for the past years. but. is now in a fine condition for the shipping of produce and for the use of fish- ermen. The first vessel to load at. the wharf since its completion was the "Bessie Dougan" under the command of Mr. Arthur White of Murray Harbour South, who tool: a load of farm produce for Sydney, N. B, Mr. Hazcn Macbure, local merchant. purchased the load from various farmers iii the district for Captain White. Other items were discussed, and it. is hoped that there will be two local teams entered in the Eisstem Kings League this year. The bus ser- vice around the block through East Point. has been terminated because of the poor condition of the road 0s’ so rumor has it, the service was appreciated very much during the ' summer months.
