A dreary place would be this earth, Were there no little people in it; The song of life would lose its mirth, Were there no children to begin it. No little forms like buds to grow, And make the admiring heart sur render ; No little hands on breast and brow, Te keep the thrilling love-chords tender. The sterner souls will grow more stern, Unteeling natures more inhuman, And mari to icy coldness turn, And woman would be less woman. Oo 5S than Life’s song, indeed, would lose its charm Were there no babies to begin it ; A doleful place this world would be, Were there no little people in it. —Selected. A Will and a Way. Why, another little sweep, a little older than himself, had taught him to read by showing him the letters over the shop doors as they went through the city. “Where there is a will there is a way.” ~Exchange, was asked if he A Postscript.
