Heart troubles, at least among the Americans, are certainly increasieg and while this may be largely (lue to the excite- ment aod worry of American business life, it ie more often the reeultof weak stomachs, ef poor digestion. Real organic disease is incurable, but sot one case in a hundred cf heart troubles is organic. The close relation between heart trouble an¢é poor digestion is because both organs are controlled by the same great nerves, the Sympathetic and Pheumogastric. In anether way, also the heart is affect ~ ed by the form of poor digestion, which causes gas and fermentatian from half digesied food. There ie a feeling of im- pression and heaviness in the chest caused by pressure of the distended stomach on the heart and lungs, interfering with the action; hence arises palpitatioa and short breath. Poor digestion also poisons the blood, making it thin and watery, which irritatee and weakens the heart. The most sensible treatment for heart trouble is to improve the digestion and to insure the prompt assimilation of food. Thie can be done by the regular use after meals of some safe, pleasant and effective digestive preparation, like Stuart’s Dyapepsia Tablets, which rmaay be found at most drug stores and which contain valuable, harmless digestive ele- raents in ap leasant, convenient form. It is safe to say that the regular persist~ ent uee of Stuart’a Dysrepsia Tablets at meal time will cure any form of stomach trouble except cancer of the stomach. Full size package of these tablets sold by druggists at fifty eents. Little book en stomach troubles mailed free. Addrees F. A. Siuart, Co., Marshal], Mich. —_ en 2G oe 82 =>?) eu,t Insurance. A SAD AFFLICTION, Young Men, It is our painful duty to chronitle the ead affliction whica has befallen Leauder Simpson, son of John Simpson, Esq, Hope River, Lot 21. For a while ne had been complaining atout his eyes but permits, to} Charlottetown, who found his eyes ina very bad condition. Ia spite of all their efforts Mr. Simpson has gone completely blind in one eye and the other is almost useiess. The cause of thie unfortunate affliction is thought to be the excessive use of tobacco,'o which the efil:cted had become addicted. Great sympacny is felt for him aod his family as he was a general favorite among all—aad especially as he is only twenty-three years of age. IN AND AROURD POWNAL. wee The changeable weatber is producing its usual crop of sickness, Men, womea department in spring and summer. The ‘and childrep are sufferiog with la grippe, carpet department will remain as it is; the }peeumonis or measles. But providential- lv there has been no fatalities here as yet. Pownal echool district is highly favor- ed in having susb excellent teachers. They are first-class in every respect; and thoreugh and rapid work is being done Miss Amy Carver, the teacher of the junier depariment, is doing a noble work. As superiatendent of the Juvenile Tem. plare she gathers the {children into the large room, one eveuing in each week, immediately afier the school closes, and holds a lo’ge meeting, where a pleasant and profitable hour is spent; and thue in early youth the children have the princi- ples of temperance inculcated that wil! keep them from the tempter’s snare ull through life. The wise wan says, “ Train up a child is the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from a” Now Mr. Kditor if every school on P. E. Island and ail over our fair Dominion, would follow the worthy example of Miss Carver and institute Juvenile Lodges, whatan army would be raised up, taught totouch not, taste not, handle not, the maddening bow! that causes so much misery, want andcrime? It is useless to look to Governments to passa prohibitory law, because they secure their election largely through the rum element, and the use of the fire-water itself. So we must educate the people, and in ne other way can it be done so surely, eo easily, and well as by starting witbthechild. We hope thie matter will be taken up, and acted en for it is far-reaching in ite reeulte. The Government might be induced to givea bonus to teachers who would engage in this great work. A few evenings ago the Superintendent invited ali the little Juveniles to a feast of good things, when, after enjoying them- selves with gemes and recitations they re~ turved to their homes feeling that it was good to be there. Thus another link was forged in the goldew chain that binds the pupil to the teacher aad superinte od- ent.
