The contract was let last week to Mwohean and Mstheson Construction Company to com- plete a third mile on the Valley- field Road. Two miles have al- ready been completed, extending from the crosroads near Monta- gue to the road leading to Kilmuir. This new road is I tremendous improvement. over the former nar- row roadway which served the dis- trict up to the present time. The present highway is 66 feet wide with a 36 foot top, deep ditches on either side, and well gravelied through its entire length. At Sutherlands Bridge, the road has been straightened out to make I. much improved approach to the bridge, and on either side the hills have been cut down to small grades by large fill-ins at the lower ex- tpmity of the hills. The one-mile extension, begun this week will carry the improved roadway to the farm of Donald MacPherson, which will leave un- finished two miles to the Valley- field Church, where the improved roadway begins again at the coun- ty line and continues into South- ern Queens to Grandview and Uigiz.
