UPEI Night of One Act Plays PRESENTING The UPEI Theatre Society will present three nights of one act plays running from November 22 to 24, 2001 at the Student Union Barn on the UPEI campus. The plays to be performed are: Riders to. the Sea by John Millington Synge directed by Andrew MacPheé and Danny Maloney; The Sex Lives of Super Heroes by Stephen H. Gregg directed by Jill McRae; The Balcony Scene by Donald Elser directed by Danny Maloney. General admission is $8.00, students and seniors $5.00; tickets will be sold at the door. Synge Directors: Andrew MacPhee and Danny Maloney Cast: DanielleBuzaglo, Emily Cook, Erin Fagan, Chase Gallant, Mariéve [48] MacGregor, Andrew MacPhee and Danny Maloney In a cottage off the West of Ireland, an old woman sits grieving over the loss of her five sons, who have all drowned. Now the sixth and last is about to tide down to the sea, and she prophesies his death. The Sex Lives Of Superheroes by Stephen Gregg Director: Jill MacRae Cast: Jade Pollard, Melanie Stavert and Joey Weale The play is about Michael who is so obsessed with his old girlfriend, Lisa; that he‘allows her wéekdly visits to his apartment. She strips, piece by. piece; all of his possessions from the apart- ment. Elenor, Michael’s date, is dis- mayed to find that he copes with his frustrations by giving fantasy lectures about the sexual habits of his comic book heroes. The two seem complete- ly mismatched until Michael finds out about Elenor’s obsession. The Balcony Scene by Donald Elser Director: Danny Maloney Cast: Cassandra Armsworthy, Emily Cook, Brad “Deighan, Erin “Fagan, Patricia .-Gallant, Adam Gauthier, Danny Maloney and Gary Vincent In this moving fantasy, set at the funeral of a ne’er-do-well, the spirit of the dead man is escorted to the -bal- cony by his Friend. Others appear: Gangster, Mother and Daughter, Husband and Wife, the Girl the Man was to have married. The-Man.pleads to be allowed to speak to the Girl. He defends his past. The thoughts of peo- ple at the funeral flow out; and ‘the spirit of the Man rails at judgements he cannot affect.
