Males, 27; Females, 22. canines Drowned Hersetr WuHite INsaNe.— Says the Truro Guardian :—Mrs. Jacob Fenton, aged about 50 years, became insane a few days ago, and had beew in the care of her husband and some friends, who were keeping a careful watch upon her. During Saturday night, when her husband and others were in the kitchen, she went to her bedroom, raised the window and jumped out. Her absence was noticed only a tew minutes afterwards, and a search made, rties being out all night. Her lifeless body was found in the river about 5 o’clock on Sunday morning. A Boisterous Meeting. Monrreat, May 9. The great meeting at the Club Nationale, last evening, was the most boisterous affair ever known inthe province of Quebec It with Government employes, the Mercier faction accused the President of being a traitor to the cause by denouncing the present Government to an Empire correspondent. Mr. Lebeuf fought like a hon and carried the meeting, Mercier’s adherents not dariog and they had prepared. The affair parasites and must be got rid of, The Jesuit’s Act Again. Toronto, May 9. Mr. Mowat was asked to-day by a re- porter if it was true that he and Blake had requested Sir John Macdonald to sub- mit the legality of the Jesuit’s Act to the courts.
