Although he had «been in failing begun for the past year or more his death came as a shock to re- latives and f-riends. On March 3rd he was suddenly stricken with .a paralytic stroke from whiclh he never fully recovered and passed away on the above mentioned date. The deceased was born in Cove- head, the son of Charlies E. Hughes and Sarah Margaret ‘Shaw, and lived there until man- hood when he moved to Harring- ton where he was“ engaged in farming and stoi‘-ekeelping. In 1928 he purchased a farm in Brack- ley Point and also carried on a produce and fertilizer business there until his deatli. Mr. Hughes was widely known a3 a keen sportsman. He is survived ‘by his wife, the former Minnie Ma-oLlure and three sons: Clhesl-ey, West Cove- head, and Fred and Harold at home. A daughter Sarah Marg- aret predeceased seventeen years ago. His only sister Bes- sie, MI-.s. Walter Elmlhree, Willow- dale, Ontario, flew hdime to at- tend the funeral which was held at the West Covelhead St. James United Church where he was a regullalr attendant. ‘Ric service was conducted by his pastor Rev. W.H. Forsytihe and was very largely at-tended despite the al- most impassable condition of bile roads. The pallbearers were Cleve Robinson, David Seaman, Ed - ward Maclcalllum, George Shaw, Fenrton MalcLure and Howard Culdlmore.
