DAIRY PRODUCE, The latest Moutreal adv iges business state that rule» buyers and sellers are apart. Nomina'ly the range may be given at 7jc to 8c. The question of fodder cheese was con~ sidered ata meeting of the Butfer and Cheese Association held a f-w days ago, and after some strong speeches urcing that producers weuld be exterdmely foolish to make any this spring the following resolu- tion was unanimously adopted : Whereas the price of finest cheese today is Jower than it hae been at this period of the year for the pasttwenty seasons, the market beiag in @ most stagnant state, the supply exceeding the demand; therefore it would appear that there is an over-pro- duction of this article, and Whereas it ie a fact that the consump- tion of chees*, does not relatively increase with the gain in population in the same ratio as butter, and Whereas the butter market today in Can- ada, the United States, England and other countries is in a most heaithy position, at relatively much higher prices than cheese, and Whereas, the nake of fodder cheese is at all times very hurtful, tending to de- press the market, its inferior quality res. tricting the consumption thus demaging the chanees of the fine qualities of full grass cheese, which is made in large quantities, Therefore, be it resolved, in view of these facts that in the wisdom and obinien of this association no hay or fodder cheese shoul! be made this spring, and that far- mere should consider well the advisapility of increasing the make of butter and limiting the production of cheese, during the ensuing and following seasons. The butter market is steady to firm with trading in finest creamery at 194c. to 20c, and held goods at 19c. The latter seems to be pretty well cleaned up for it is becom- aliowed the service to become if that were possible, even les efficient than before. The epecifications for the buoy rervice for Grand K.ver call for a can buoy out- side the bar at entrance to river; now, L ask | any one possersirg COMMON SEDs, if a beer cark to which an upper story consisting of a few slabs, bas been attached 's a can bnov whiehthe tormer contracier had charge | ofthe service, the can buoy went} adrift. On notifying the Agent of Marine be was in formed that he could replace it | with a rum puncbeon for the remainder of | the season, it being certainly understood that anew aud proper can buov would in| the following «pring replace the one lost. Yet the beer ca=k still guards the entrance tothe barbor. The specification also calls for two black spar buoys, one on each side of the bar, yet our contractor disr garding his instructions paints one red and the} other black. Chain moorings mrest also be used, I; would like very muca to know if he used | them in all cases. [would also like to know if all spar buove put} out were a vertical height of | six feet from water line, The contract: | or must provide and keepon hand pot only all buyoys above specified but also | epare buoys with moorings complete one | spare buoys for every ten or fraction | ten of each kind included in the contract. Now sir will the ecn ractor over his own | name trathfaily tell as in what manner he | fultiiled this part of his contract? As one | interested to some extent in the shipping | which frequents this por! I sincerely hope | that daring the present season the seroice | will be in @ more satisfactory condition, NAVIGATOR. Serofula Snake-Like in its subtlety. It lies hidden for years in the ambush of the blood, and when it strikes it voids its venom alike on strength and beauty, disfiguring the one and undermining the other. Ayer’s Sarsaparilia is a specific for scrofula in its worst and most malignant forms. Scrofula is a blood disease. Ayer’s Sarsaparilla is a blood purifying medicine. Mineral medicines only drive scrofula below the surface. ? Duriog the fall of tue last year in | to stop too. This addition attracted sevy- eral others from across the street, and the crowd grew until a considerable and still increasing number stood about. Then theories were advanced as to what it was, but nobody would touch it, not even with a ten foot pole. ‘‘Pick it up. | Bill,’’ said one, but Bill drew back with an emphatic refusal. Then the ubiquitoas pavement orator put in his appearance. He knew what it was, for be had been to Chicago in the hottest of the anarchistic manifesta- | tions, and he explained exactly how bombs are made. ‘‘Mebbe it’s wound up,’’ he said, ‘‘and’ll go off any min- | >? ute.’’ And the crowd retreated a pace or two. But curiosity was strong, and the orator continued that he knew, in fact, of a certain secret band sworn to blow up that very building. Several of the men breathed hard and looked up at | the top story, and while they were thus lost in contemplation a small boy, with the bravado of innocence or ignorance, grasped the handje of the portentous bundle and lifted—a tattered old um- brella, stuck in the grating of a cecal hole. The crowd giggled, but the man who had been to Chicago left in silence. ~-Philadelphia Presa tis Use Discévered. ‘What is the use of the vermiform ap- pendix?’’ asked the teacher of the class in physiology. “The yermiform appendix,’’ promptly | answered Tommy Tucker, ‘tie useful to keep things out of.’’—Chicago Tribune.
