NEWFOUNDLAND AFFAIRS, The Confederation Proposal. OFFICIAL OPINION. Orrawa, March 11. A St. John’s, Nfld. despatch states that a deputation will probably leave for Ottawa re the confederation proposal from the Dominion Government. The revenue of the Newfoundland Government last year was $1,190,900. The estimated revenue for the current year is $1,347,000, and the expenditure for the current year $1,253,000. The public debt is three millions. The despatch states that there is much excite- ment on the federation question, but the Canadian proposals are, on the whole, favorably received. Toronto, March 11.
