S., where he has been investigating the death of his ncphew,Ephr`alm Bradley, killed in tbrfmlnes there on Wednesday, Dec il0th, last. 'lhc Sergeant made a complete investi- gation and has no doubt that the fatality was purely accidental and that no culpa- bility could he attached ta any one. Seen by The Guardian representative last night the Sergeant gave an account of his trip, He left the City Monday and reached Springhill Wednesday. He first mot Rev. G.l. Foster who has looked alter the remains and telegraphed the news of the death. Mr. Foster, who has alargc number of English boys in his congregation working at the mines, thought it was one of them had been the victim of the accident when he heard the news on the street. Investigating be found the victim was young Bradley and ache wasa Charlottetown boy lie took charge of the funeral and forwarding of the body. Sergeant Brodie' also met the mana- ger of the mine and visited the shone of the accident about 2400 feet below the surface at West Slope No. 2. The death was caused by “bumping” as deioribed at length in The Guardian some time ago. The shift was almost completed, and the boy was sitting between two poets with the lamp in Ibis hand when the coal piled on top completely burying him. Alter the duet had cleaped _away the other three men working looked around but could dnd no traces cl the unfortunate driver of the beam. After some search a band was seen beuesth thcimmenss mass of coal and afteranbeur and a half work the body was uneovrred. The posts had kept the coal from oimpletly crushing the body. The head was bent forward and on the back of it was a ent and ou the aheak a mark of the button of his coat where his bead had been pressed forward probably causing suffooacios.
