The Examiner Job Print London House Building, Queen Street, Charlottetown, — ADDRESS AND PRESENTATION Mother St. Peter, of Notre Dame Convent Removes to Sydney Mines, C. B. APOE Reverend Mother St. Peter, of the Notre Dame Convent, left Charlottetown this morning for Sydney Mines, C. B., where she assumes the position of Supers iress of the convent recently established ia that town, Yesterday evening she was waited upon by the ladies of the Children of Mary, the Holy Family and St. Vincent de Paul Sewing Circle Societies, who presented the Reveread Mother with a suitable address accompanied by a purse of money as asmall token of the high es- them in which she was held by those who had the orivilege of her acquaintance while in this city. Mother St. Peter thanked all present for the kind words tendered her in the address and expresesed the cherished bope that all would continue in the good works which had been #0 successfully carried on during her st.y at Charlottetown. All present were greatly impressed by the truly Christian counsel and advice given them by the good mother. For twelve years Mother St. Peter has been the Surerioress of Notre Dame Con-~ vent, during which time she labored in- eessantly for the welfare of all the privilege of being educated in that excellent institution of learning. In her own Christian way she helped to form the character of a very Jarge number of the youth of Charlottetown, the true value of which wil! be;the more appreciated as time rolle on. She labored for them not only during the school period of life, but also was ever ready and willing to assist them in their more mature years; as is evidenced by the good work perform- ed by the ladies’ Societies under her dir- ection, particular!y thoee of the Children of Mary, the Holy Family and the St. Vincent de Paul Sewiag Circle. Mother St, Peter has invariably proved Rev. } herself to be not only a lady of the most refined culture and literary accom- plishments, but a'su a Superioress of ex cellent executive and adminietratiye ability. During the time she presided over ,;Noire Dame Convent, notwith. standing that the support of such 4 large institution depended on the prccarious support of voluntary assittance, she nevertheless managed to bave the school not only susiaia its former efliciency, but gave to it an impetus that will last for many years to come. There is no school in the ci y 80 thoroughly equipped for an up-to-date education asis tce Convent of Notre D.me, and it isto Mother St. Peter that much of this desirable re- ult is due. She was ever the true friend of the poor aod needy, and many are they who found consolation in ber kinds words ot encour~ agement during the hour of trial. While we regret Ler departure irom our midst, we cvogratulate the Convent at Sydney Mines on L aving as ite Lead such aculturs ed, pious and capable Superioress as the Reverend Moti r St. Peter.
