She was in great distress, and told her fellow- passengers that she and her husband set out from Boston to go to Prince Edward Island to stop the summer. But her husband deserted her just as the boat was leaving the wharf and cemained in Boston. How she came to con- tinue the journey further than Portland, Maine, where the boat next stopped, is not explained. The police were powerless and mobs ran from street to street assaulting all persons supposed to be Orangenien. 3 There was a disastrous hail and wind storm, near Albany, N. Y.; a damaging flood at Harrisburg® and a violent storm, three miles wide, which destroyed all grain ia its course through Nebraska. During 24 hours ended at 8 o'clock on the 13th, there were 25 deaths from cholera at Damietta, 61 at Mansurah, 27 at Sama- noud, 4 at Shirbin and 3 at Malta. Spain has instituted a system of compulsory sanitary inspection of all vessels arriving at Spauish ports from England. In the British House of Commons on the 13th, Mr. Childers, Chancellor of the Ex- chequer, in reply to Sir Stafford Northcote, said the Suez Canal agreement would be submitted to the House by a motion made in committee that the sum to besloaned to the Suez Canal Co. by the Government for building the new canal be chargeable to the consolidated fund. Sir Stafford Northcote gave notice that when such a motion was made he would ask the sense of the House on the agreement. This announcement was received by cheers.
