MEETING AT DUNDAS. —— ee Persuant to notice a political meeting was = li on Wednesday evening at Dan las Cart House. It was a decided success. The Court room was packed fu!l by an atten- tive audience who manifested their hearty ef the Liberal-Conservative policy. The meeting wa; called to order by appointing Mr. Lewis Ross to the chair, and the undersigned secretary. A. C. McDonald, ksq. ; the popular candi- late for King’s County was the first speaker. He thanked the electors for their past kindness at the last election, and showed up the policy of the Government which was a well-defined one. He also| showed clearly that if there was a depres- | sion in the country it was not owing to the | Nationa! Policy. He touched on the differ ent political topics of the day, and finished up by delivering one of the ablest speeches of this campaigo. He made a deep im- pression on the audience, and wascheered | euthuasticaily, indicating that the f majority of the electors were in union with him, Dr. P. A. McIntyre was then called, upon and spoke forcibly for some time, speaking about the depression and the | exodus, ‘and showed up the platform of Liberal party. He touched on the Manitoba | School question and found fault with the | Government for not bringing out a con- cileatory measure to settle this muca | abused questi. His speech did not make | much impression on the audience. approval John McLean ex-M. P. was called up-| on and lou diy cheered when he stepped upon the platform. He spoke fluently’! and forcibly on the trade questions of the | day and knocked the Dr’s. urgument3 into} shreds, Mr. A. Currie, Souris, spoke time on the depre-sion; and gave vice to the farmers. M:. Allan Hancer spo%ce on the best in tere-t of the farmers and the N. P., and made a marked impression on the farmers present. Mr. A. Clay spoke for sometime and gt a good, attentive hearing. C. Shaw, Esq, M.L A., was louily ealled for. When he steppe! oa the plat- form he had to wait for fully five minutes before the cheering ceased. He spoke flaently on the N. P. and male a deep im- pression on the large audience. He al-o spoke on the Manituba school question, which he fully explained tothe entire satisfaction of the audience. H>sat down amid the loud applause of the whole meet- ing. Dr. Robertson spoke on the different topics of the day, and got a good hearing. He condemned the N. P., and the Liberal- Conservative platiorm, and the duty on cordage, depression among the farmers, and the exodus, This closed one of the best ever held at Dundas for the Liberal- Con- servatives, ending by giving three cheers for Her Majesty the Queen, the candidates and the chairman. for some | vain ad- meetings J. Many cases have been investigated, and among others that of Mrs. Reany, of Ashland, Wis., who was cured of this form of trouble by the use of a kidney medicine known as Dodd's Kidney Pills, which origiaated in Canada but has now ‘bec ome widely known and used throughout the Western States. This and other similar cases go to show that these troubles are largely due to the kid- neys and that the above mentioned remedy is likely to have a great effect in lessening the number of victims to this form of com plaint. The Commodore did not appear to be in good form, 6nd it is quite evident that he has despaired of carrying the seat. Mr, Martin replied at considerable length. His views and explanations were faction by a very lavge majarity of his hearers. He proved “that although Mr. Welsh appeared now to be very zealous for a railway to Murray Harbor, be never urged tha matter upon Parliament during the many years that he held a seat there. Mr. D. A. McKinnon followed with a very weak and rambling speech which contained a3vertion but no argument. Mr. W. S. Stewart was next called upon and for three-quarters of an hour ably vin- dicated the Policy of the Government and gave many reasons why Mr. Martin should he the chosen representative ot Ea-t Queen’s in the next parliament. Mr Stewart was frequently applauded during the d livery of lis speech and the points he made were evidently felt and appreciated Mr, H. C. McDonald replied on behalf « f Mr. Welsh. His speech was remarkable for two etatements which were boldly made notwithstanding that they are in direct oppo-ition to the facts. He declared that the Legislature of Manitoba never estab- lished a system of Separate Schools for that Province and that the main estimates for the years 189697 were passed at the last sessien of Parliament. Mr. Welsh’s followers were so dispirited that not a cheer could be raised for him. A QUERY? Mr. Laurier says in his lctter to Mr. Bertram with reference to the tariff which the Liberals would introduce :— “It is also impossible to lay down even approximately what should be the rate of the tariff. It is quite certain that public expendnure ought to be and can be consid- erably reduced.” The Montreal Gazette asks: Would expenditure be reduced by the increase of the Provincial subsidies, to which Mr. Laurier is pledged ? —_ oe WEAK NERVES, Are a Source of Continual Mirery.
