The Dominion iron and Steel Coni-
pany, The Post learns, are spending
something like $200,000 oii repairs to
the various parts of the Diilnf-
'At the Open Hearth department, all
of the ten furnaces are being given _a
thorough ovcrhuuling. An addition is
nlso being made to the cast house
which will 'enable heat to be poured
into the moulds much more rapidly,
The Post has been inforiiied that the
company are considering the adcls-
furnaces with a capacity- of 150 tons
nach. With the completion of thc

Year, it is stated that the present
furnaces will be quite insufficient ,zo
supply the reqiilretl tonnage of steel
for all purposes. There appears to be,
little doubt but that the steel trade
within the next few years will havei
n treinndous limpctus fin all lines,
and the local plant will share in the
general prosperity. But in order to do
so their work must bo fully equal to

supply the demands. To do this, a,
steel man informed The Post, the com-
ly nine-tenths of the cases of stomach
trouble, indigestion, sourness, burri-
ing. Sas, bloating, nausea, etc., are due
to an excess of hydrochloric acid in
the stomach and not as some believe to

has been found necessary to entirely
rebuild the foundations under the big
engine. The present foundation which
has broken in several places will be
blown down and a new one construc-
ted. This work alone, it is under-,
stood, will cost in the vicinity of $45,-4
000. At the present time even if the
coinpiiny had all the orders it requir-
ed, it would be necessary to close
this portion of the plant down until
these repairs could"be affected. Re-
