Montague, yesterday afternoon. of the business men of the commun- ity for the purpose of meeting Mr. Murray Elder, i-epraseniaiive of the Canadian Chamber of Com- merce. and Mr. Walter I-lyndmao. Charlottetown. proyinclal vice- president of the Canadian Cham- ber of Commerce. There was a large assembly of the business men present who were enlighten- ed by Mr. Elder on the various phases of the Board of Trade work and activities in which the Board might engage. Mr. Hyn an urged the re- orgiinlzaiio of the King's County Board of Trade and that it should Lioin the Canadian Chamber of Commerce. . He proposed that each town in King's County should form its own local Board of Trade and that each group should send representatives to a general meeting of King's County Board: to form one cen- triil executive no that this unit would then be able to speak for . the whole county instead of an individual section as exists at present. Both Mr. Elder and Mr. Hynd- man pointed out that without the voice of a full representative body. little attention would be granted to desired requests. It was apparent. he said, that although considerable good work had already been done. much yet. remained. and only through con- certed action would it be accom- plished. The dredging of the Montague River, long necessary for so many years. he said. had come to pass this year. and the local Board of Trad-e was in no small way in- strumental in bringing this about, Mr. Hyndman cited other pro- jects as equally important, such as a truck mail service. for Kin-g's County, a new bridge at Monta- gue and the establishing of a win- ier boat. service from Pictou to Georgetown. The meeting was advised that undoubtedly similar circumstances existed in Sourls. St. Peters, Mor- ell. Peakes. Cardigan and many other localities. and it was made clear that if these requests from all were channeled through one representative body. a King's County Board of Trade for the whole county. then such requsts would demand greater attention. The local board decided that. it would hold a re-organiution. meet- g ing in the near future. and call in Jepresentativea from the districts. Keeps Hands D?!
