Divlilmis of the Canadian Red Cfufis Society was regretfully lo- cepted at a meeting of the m. ecutive held on July 16th. Miss Maclesn is a native of this Province who served for a short time as teacher in the public Federation and Federation meetings in Winnipeg. | At this time the work of the Red In Macleanb suc- never been approached in any other province in Canada. Her great success marked her out for additional responsibilities in the work of the Provincial Division and at the same time secured her re- cognition by the New Brunswick Division as well as by the Central Council of the Canadian Red Cross Society. She was therefore asked to give part time service in the province of New Brunswick in or- garilzing Junior Red Cross ac- tivities and there. M here, ad- ditional responsibilities were soon given her culminating in her ap- pointment as Provincial Commis- sioner. Her next field of en- “ deavour was in the Dominion of Newfoundland when she was sent by the Canadian Red Cross Society to introduce Junior Red Cross in the schools. In this effort she achieved a brilliant record. Along with her work in New runswick Miss MacLean carried on part time as Director of Junior Cross and later as Provincial Commissioner for the province of Prince Edward Island. In the lim- tlhe direction of the work, here as elsewhere, she always led in some important activity on the part of the Red Cross. The following quoted from the Saint John Telegraph Journal with reference to her re- signation as Provincial Commissioner for New Brunswick aptly describes "All of the public who have met Miss MacLean in connection with Red Cross affairs are conscious of her ability and energy. As the ex- ecutive officer of an orgnization whlc'h has at all times many ramif- ications, now multiplied by war activity, she has displayed devotion and a grasp of detail along with a. marked capacity for management. She has been indefatigable, tra- velling throughout New Bruns- wick and speaking to scattered and varied audiences in the interest of the Society she served so well. Zeal and conscientious endeavour to enlarge and perfect Red Cross work in its many forms have characterized her tenure of office. Mis Maclean has carred the bur- den for the Red Cross in New Brunswick and all testify to the excellence of her performance. She will be missed by those with whom she has worked when at the end of August she hands over her duties to a successor who will not be easy to find."
