Rules, Conditions and General Information ofthe Contest
READ CAREFULLY
Any woman resident of one of the districts named who is
of good character and between the ages of fourteen and forty-five,
whether married or single, is eligible to compete, provided the
conditions set forth below are complied with:
Candidates may be nominated in the regular way or they may
nominate tlieuiselves, either by the enrollment coupon or letter
or they can hc nominated by a friend.
' All nominations must be accompanied by the proper home
address of the candidate. .
No employee of The Charlottetown Guardian, nor uiernber
of his or her iinuiediate faintly may become a candidate.
The Contest Dcpartnient reserves the right to reject any
candidate or contestant it niay consider undesirable, without giv-
ing a reason for doing so. i
Tli_e balloting will be by means ot' single ballots, which will
be published in all issues from The Guardian, and reuewulg and
new stibscribers to The Morning Daily, Rural Daily and Satur-
day Guardian will carry votes according to the 'accompanying
scliedule of votes. _
Votes cannot be purchased. '
All money uiiist be :iccoutpauicd by subscriptioits null the
nantes of siibscribers must :iccoinpany remittances.
Votes will not be isstied fora subscription less than One
Dollar.
All votes issued ou subscriptions are good until the end of
the contest, and may be polled at the discretion of the candidate
or the subscriber;
All coupons will be kept for the inspection of contestant at
any time during life of contest.
Single ballots (those printed in thc paper) must be polled
within the time limit printed thereon.
Votes will be allowed on subscriptions secured anywhere.
Votes once cast canimt be changed to count for another
candidate-
Candidates will be divided into districts according to their
place of residence, but they nity secure ballots and subscriptions
anywhere.

A candidate cannot remove from one district to another and
retain the votes to her credit in the former district.
Districts showing little or no activity may be cancelled at
the discretion ofthe Contest Manager, and his decision will be
final and conclusive. _
In case of a tie in any separate district those tieing will each
receive the district prize. -
A board of three responsible business inen will have exciti-
sive control of the ballot box tlte last day of the contest, and
make the announcement of the result of that day’s voting and
declare the winners.
_A list of candidates and their number of votes will be pitb-
lished during the contest. '
No promise or agreeinnt, either written or verbal, made by
agents, solicitors, or canvassers, beyond those stated above, will
be recognized by The Charlottetown Guardian.
The contest opens ofiically Nov 28, 1911. The balloti ng
will start Dec 2, 1911 and close at S P. M. January 27, 1912,
