Professor focus Professor Wills Professor Wills has been teaching at UPEI for the last thirteen years. He teaches anthropolgy inavery - informative way utilizing films, lectures, readings, class papers, and class discussions. Don’t take a course from Professor Wills if you are afriad of learning something. | | C: What field work have you done as an anthropolo- gist? : I’ve done field work with the Subartic Cree ndiands. I’ve studied severely retarded adults in ashington State. I’ve done field work all over PEI. : Why did you come to UPEI? : Forajob. I liked the name Prince Edward Is- and. Lots of reasons, many things I liked - The size of the anthropology department and the young faculty. Often other universities will have a larger and older faculty, where you'd have to wait until someone etired if you wanted to teach acertaincourse. Here hs have more freedom to choose what to teach, and ou have more contact with the students. vi Decribe the typical student in your class. | : Lots of variation, very hard to say if there’s a ypical. Most students are interested in the material nd anthropology. Most people really enjoy doing the esearch paper. They find it fun. : Have you published any books? + I’ve done two books. They / to explain complex issues of science to the pulic. Is it like Omni magazine? W: No Scientific American is more technical than Omni. C: What kind of movies and entertainment do you like? W: I enjoyed the ‘‘Terminator 2’’ but I thought the first one was better. I really enjoyed “‘‘The Baghdad Cafe’’.
