' Never in the history of Charlotte- town was there such s. scene on the streets -as that in connection with the iareweli parade of the llliith Overseas Highland Regiment yesterday after- noon. The parade was scheduled to leave the Armouries at 5 o'clock and long before the hour the streets were thronged with carriages and autos and the sidewalks lined with pedes- trians. Amoag the visitors were the parents of many of the boys from the country. Practically the whole City was on the streets' while lla!! waved from many buildings in honour of 'the Island’s first regiment. The whole battalion was massed in the vicinity of the Armouries sud tho boys and their friends had an opportunity for handshakings and good wishes of which manytook advantage. To the disappointment' of all, about six o‘clock, it was announced that the Carlerry on which the Regiment was to embark would not arrive until 10 o’clock. The boys were marched to their respective quarters and the crowds melted away. Tho steamer which left Charlottetown in the morn- ing'was held up by a dense fog in the strait and did not reach Pietou till 4.40 p. m. making it impossible for her to return.
