(Brlitsh Unit- ed Press)—A comparison made by some medical experts between two African tribes, who exist on total- iy different types of diet, has rc- vealcd much interesting informat- ion on the relation of food to physical health. The investigation, which has been made over a period of five years by Doctors J. 1B. Orr and J- L. Gilks, shows that the Masai, one o.’ the tribes, who live mainly on meat and milk, are on an average five inches taller and 23 pounds heavier than the Kikuyu, who de- pend for the most part on cereals with some roots and fruits. It was found that the two trib- es are prey to different groups of diseases. The Masai suffered most- ly from rheumatism and intestinal disorders and the Kikuyu from bone deformities, dental trouble and anaemia. After some conversation, the girls invited the young men to get into [the car in order to point: out the way, since it was late at night and the girls explained they were a 11¢. tle bit afraid. On the way to the destination the suggestion was made that the partymlght have a drink before Sella-rating. The auto was stopped at a cafe in Montmartre and they all had several drinks at a table set for supper. Finally the bill came along. It amounted to 89'! francs, more than $25! In reply to protests 0! the young men, the proprietor explained that there was a cover charge, that the girls had eaten some cakes and that there was this that, and the next thing to be paid for. . Happily the young Canadian knew what he was doing. Leaving his friend, he went to the nearest ccmmissariat and explained the sit- uation and learned that there had been other complaints about these same young women who worked as decoys to get tourists into the cafe in order that they might be fleec- ed. In this instance the commiss- ariat sent a. police agent along and the cafe proprietor was glad to accept four dollars in final set- tlement. which shows one must watch one’: step in Paris, just as in any other cityi . lillslu for n rally extending into ..‘_._ ‘a. orning rm a BOND - Wall Strcet_Mlrror_Says:- 54 s. _ Special to Johnston & Ward pi - ... .... ..
