Thanks are due for an unusually exciting hour-and-arhalf to lovely Academy Award winner Loretta Young, her co-star Robert Cum- min _ . and an excellent supporting cast A eaded by Wendell Corey, Sam Jaffe and Douglas Dick. Mliss Young plays an inhibited teacher of psychology in a western ‘llnll/BTSRY. On the pretext of seek- ing her advice, one of her students, a good-for-nothing Lothario (Doug- ll-as Dick), talks her into a dat-c. He drives her to a secluded spot and attempts to attack her. In a panic of fear and fury she gra.bs hold of a fishing spear in his car and beats him over the head with it. When she sees she has killed him, horri. fled, she covers up her tracks and makes her way ‘back to town. Then follows a nightmare time for her when Dick's lawyer-gugm- ian, Cummings, appears on the scene to inquire about him, and when Corey,a shrewd police lieu- 35-9 Winner of THREE Academy Awards! SEE IT FROM THE BEGINNING: IN MEMORIAM MR. JAMES DIBCDONALD There passed peacefully away at his home in Cardigan Head, Tues- day, May 31st. James MacDonald in his 89th year. Although the late Mr. MacDon- ald was in falling health for the past two months, the end came very suddenly. Born at Wheatley River, Sept. 23rd, 1860, son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Allan MacDonald with his parents and other members of his family, he moved to Cardigan Head sixty six years ago and with the exception of two years spent in U. S. A. the rest of his life was spent in Cardigan Head. The deceased was of a gentle, re- retta, to sidestep some incriminat- ing evidence, changes herself into a. glamorous personality, with the result that both Cummings and Corey fall in love with her. As the woman-hunt closes in on her, the suspense she is under is shared by the audience. And what happens when her highly develop- ed self-control finally breaks down, is handled by lyfiss Young in a way to warrant another Academy Award. ‘The Accused" acids up to sen- sational entertainment brilliantly directed by William Dieterle.
