Bedeque, and Borden United Churches were held recently. and the Ofiicai ;Board of the pastoral charge comprising these three congrega- tions met the evening of Janu- ary 22nd in .the veetry of the. Bedeque United Church to hear reports on the year's work and to plan ior the future. In all departments of the Church's work reports indicated a year of advance. Fifty-four new members were added to the Roll. forty-four by profession or faith in Jesus Christ and ten by cer- tificate; twenty two children were admitted to the Church by the Sacrament of Baptism. This is the largest increase for any year on record. The Sundlay School at Borden reported a marked in- crease in membership and at- tendance with eight teachers, 86 pupils. and an average attendance of '16; in addition there are 24 members on the Nursery Roll. The Sunday School at Bedeque uses a truck and automobiles to bring in children from the outlying areas of the congregation. Two Church Vacation Schools were held dur- ing the summer with the Albany school reporting an enrolment of 41 as compared with 21 the pre- vious year. The mid-week Christ- ian Edueation groups-Explorers, Trail Rangers, Canadian Girls in Training, and the Prayer Meeting -continued on a high level. The amounts of money contri- buted for local purposes in all three congregations .were subs- tantially higher than in 1951. In Borden the debt incurred while building the new church in 1950 was reduced by 31000.0() and the expectation is that this debt will be paid off in live or six years instead of the 10 year originally contemplated. The pastoral charge completed its Mount Allison Cam- paign allocation of t1500 which had been initiated three years ago. con- tributed 3460.00 to the United Church Training School Building Fund, and 32648.00 to the Mission- ary and Maintenance Fund. The W. M. 3. organizations of the charge raised a total of 81087.00. The Official Board had previous- ly adopted the new salary scale (or ministers for 1953. and at the meet- ing of January 22nd it accepted an objective (or 1053 of .t500.00 tor United Church Extension: this is in addition to 32200 raised for this purpose in 1950-51. The Board also adopted the United Church Ob- server Every Family Plan by which every active resident family will be enrolled as subscribers to the church paper. Plans were initiated to install an improved heating system in the parsonage. It was reported to the Board that the Bedeque congregation is planning a major addition to their church building in the immediate iuture.
