AN OPEN INVITATION FOR PARTICIPATION FROM THE UPEI WOMEN’S CONSTITUENCY GROUP As many of you may already know, a Women’s Constituency group has been formed on campus. However, what many ofyou do not know is what our existence on campus means. WHO WE ARE: Weare a group of men and women made up of students, alumni and faculty members concerned with women’s issues on campus sucha violence against women, pornography and gender neutral language. WHAT WE ARE WORKING FOR: Weare currently in the process of becoming a sub spbpiatentiatl of the Student Union. Our current plans and projects include: - the creation and establishment for a Women’s Center on campus, ‘‘a safe place’’ for all women on campus by they survivors, information-seckers, or simply in need of a place to relax and veg out. - a December 6th memorial for the victims of the Montreal Massacre - the formation of a White Ribbon Campaign on campus for men against violence against women - the enforcement of the existing gender-neutral language policy on campus WHEN/WHERE WE MEET: We meet every Sunday evening in Main 211 at 6:00 pm where we discuss new ideas/approaches, hear from various invited speakers and make plans for upcoming events. WHY WEMEET: We meet because we care about women’s issues on campus and because we’ ve made a commitment to change and awareness. And we encourage others to do the same.
