by Todd MacLaughlan The Canadian—Albania Friendship Association presented the_film H A "General firamophone",lasf ' Monday night at 7:30 p.m. in the Robertson Library. Kathryn Schmidt of the Marxist-Leninist Party helped show the film which she stated "promotes progressive positive ideas." The_film was presented in the Albanian language and lasted approximately two and one half hOUrs. _ This black and white film was set in l936 in Albania during the anti-popular regime of King 209. Although hard to follow at times because of the g . language barrier, the film basically tells the story of a group of folk instrumentalists and deals with the theme of the preservation of the national culture from the cultural and ideological assault which precedes Academicinin berarie LeLoup On October 30, University of Prince Edward Island hosted the firstvannual Academic Awards Dinner to recognize those students on the Dean's List last year and those students who won prozes for academic excellence. Approximately seventy students attended the dinner which was catered to” by Beaver Foods. ‘ Foll0wing the dinner, academic awards were presented and the guest speaker, Dr. colin MacMillan, a (PM DIVIER‘EVIEW " military aggression. ”The movie compares the struggle of the poor oil field workers with the ' upperclass society (which were always eating) and shows sOme of the techniques which were used by the fascists to suppress the unrest and upheaval of the oil workers. They willingly gave up the secure, safe atmosphere of home, y family and friends to face the unknown hard- ships of war even though they knew that they could be crippled, maimed or even killed. Would you or i have the courage to do as they did? i can only hope that we Will never be put to the test.
