AVICTIM OF MOSOUITOES.
Hrs. Joseph H. Leddy, of Mt. Carmel,
Conn, is dead, a victim oi mosquitoes.
The insects have been a pest for several
Weeks in that locality, and Mrs. Leddy
was the greatest sufferer of all. She
was covered with bites, which drove her
iodistraction. She scratched so desper-
ately that she opened a vein with a finger
nail, and bled to death before the phy-
lialan who was summoned when she col-
hpsed could stop the flow.

Prince Edward Island's summer climate
is delightful, and scenery is beautiful and
quietly picturesque. Surrounded by the
Gulf of St. Lawrence, it enjoys all the
coolness of the sea breeze and the advant-
ages that can only be derived from seo
bathing nt about 65 degrees.
Charlottetown has over 12,000 inhabit-
ants, and is the capital. It has many
great retail stores, besides a large _whole-
sale trade. It has a Gas Light and Power
Company two Electric lights plants, and
a street railway is in embryo. It has a.
flrst class water works and sewerage sys
tem. It is famed for its many pleasant
drives the principal of which is the new
Park Boulevard, its attractive surround
ings, pure water and clear cool and brac-
ing air. It is widely known as one of the
healthiest cities in Canada. It has two
hospitals, many churches and a large and
elegant new Opera House. It also has sev-
eral fine public buildings and a market
.which is one of the chief resorts of the
citizens here. It has one of the largest
and best equipped pork-packing establish
ments in the Dominion. On the west
sideis in the Park;on the east side are the
magnicent new Exhibition Building
and Driving Park. Chief among its pub-
lic squares are Queen Square in he centre
ofthe city, beautifully laid out with bloom-
ing plants ot everydcscription, a fountain
and well arranged walks, and enlivened
with a band of music during the summer
evenings. The rural scenery in the vicin-
of Charlottetown is charming, and horses
for driving are abundant at very low
prices. Boats can also be hired, and
steamers run regularly on the bays and
rivers, affording most pleasant excursions.
The principal hotels are Davies; Queen,
and Revere.
Summerside has above 3000 inhabitants
It is situated on beautiful Bedeque Bay.
It has the largest and finest departmental
store in the Maritime Provinces, besides
having other large retail stores. I; has an
Electric Light Plant, and a water works
system and sewerage are being
agitated for. The hotels are-Clifton
Queen, Russ, Strathcona and Campbell.
Georgetown and Souris have a popula-
tiou of about 1,000 each. In the former
‘ are the Aitken, Tapper,Revere, Dominion,
Mcilonnel, Manuel and Globe hotels and
in Souris the Sea View. Kimball, Imper
al. American and Harbor View.
At Cape Traverse a very pleasant sum-
mer reson, is the Landsdown Hotel; in
Alberton, the Albion Terrace and Wisner
in Tignish the Railway and Bellevue; in
Kc nsingt/on, Clark’s and Commercial; in
Montague, McDonald, and in Mount
Stewart, Ciark's and Manson’s
The following hotels open for the sum
mer season; At Hampton, Pleasant View
at Stanhope, Mutche’s, and Clin; at
Brackley Point, Shaw’s: at Rustiso. Sea-
side; at Malpeque, North Shore; at
Tracadie Beach. Acadia; at Alberbon,
Seaforth; and at Pownal, F‘orida.
In addition to those already mentioned
here are other tow ns and villages in the
Province with hotel aceomnodations
while many farm houses prepare for the
reception of touristS. The rivers and
streams team with trout, the bays with
mackerel, while game of every descri p-
