Teachlrs’ Federation: In April 1945 our Federation be- | came s. corporate body whose aims are the promotion of the interests ' oi the teachers and the advancement oi the cause o! education. l Under this Aot the power vested in a. Board of Governors who are chosen at our Local Fail Oenvmt- kms in the proportion of one insin- ber for every twenty teachers pre- sent. Working on this basis our first Board oi Governors consists o! thirty members. Since all bus- iness relative to the work oi the Ibderstion is done by this Board it is imperative that representatives be chosen with great care. it is also imperative that those chosen be in attendance at all Board meet- llfl. When s district has chosen s to ropresmt them it is the duty of these representatives in attend sll meetings of the Board and to report to his District what is being done by the Federation in the field of Education. During the past year many oi the members were faithful. others not so good. 1st. us resolve this year to make our attendance as near 100 per cent as possible. The work oi our Fed- eratiiori will only go forward in proportion to the interest that is taken in and the time and energy that ls expended on ll. ‘The first meeting of our newly elected Board wits held in the Audi- torium of Prince ci Wales College |0n November 30th. with the full membership of thirty members pre- sent. A s”! ket loaded with gifts was brought in by Mrs. Murray Orr and Miss Ruth Whitlock, while Mrs, Orr cut the strings, Ruth passed the gifts to Mrs- Cyril Smith, who read the accompanying verses. and placed the gifts on a table. The many beau- tiful gifts and number of envelopes testified to the popularity of the young couple. Mr. Smith on behalf oi Wanda thanked their friends for their gifts and good wishes. For They Are Jolly Good Fellows was merrily sung, the ladies then bounced the bride while a number of the stronger sex took charge of the groom.
