With the present opportunity of ss- curlng at reasonable prices supplies of good hog feeds there is no good reason why any undersized hogs should be shipped. The calf situation is somewhat dif- M-w-‘m unit parser... conditions indimw that about 50 calves per week can be sold on our local markets to good ad- vantage, that ls, providing they are of real veal quality. It should be re- membered, however, that poorly fin- ished calves are not‘ wanted at any price. They are a. drug on the mar- ket, a source of trouble when making sales, and a. disappointment to the shipper when he receives the pitt- ance we are able to salvage from the marketing of this wreckage. A share of patience and a longer period of good feeding should remedy this defect in our marketing o! calves. There is a weekly call for a limited number of spring lambs oi’ good qual- ity and no doubt this demand can be increased by supplying only with a choice offering. The peculiar texture and flavor of Maritime lamb should be sufficient to exclude all other lamb importatlons from the menues of all exclusive Hotels and other hlghclass establishments who cater to the ex- acting requirements of the average tourist and consumer. It should be re- membered thatquality of product is emphasized as never before in the marketing of livestock and the retail- ing of all fresh meat products. no control and it should be noted that lambs of this class must be actually sold previous to these dates.
