The commander of the government Steamer Li Canadienne, at Gaspe, from Labrador, reports having passed icebergs ashore in fifty fathoms of water, some of which were from one to two miles long, off the eastern entrance to the Straits. Ice- tgs have been reported of unusual size, one said to be seven miles long. The salmon fishing has been good. The seal fishery of last fall with nets was better than usual, some of the Gshera having taken from 1,000 to 1,500 seals. The spring seal fishing in the ice was a total failure.
