Lonpon, Aug 5.—Advices from Abys- sinia say that Rasalula, with 5,000 troops, and Rasmarecl, with 3.500 will attack the besiegers of Kassala at two points in October, and at the samo time 1200 Indians and 800 Anglo-Egyptians will atiack them at the third point. Torontoy Aug. 5.—The cricket match, Canada vs United States, ended to-day in a grand victory for the Canadians by one of the smallest scores ever known on the cricket field. In their first innings Canada made 87 and the United States 43. In the second, Canada scored 57 and the United States team 62. Totals—Canada, 144; Americans, 105. Lonpon, Aug. 5,—A despatch received this afternoon states that considerable ex- citement exists in Zanzibar, owing to a con- flict being imminent between German col- onists and the natives. The Germans are determined on punishing the natives for alleged aggressions and have enrolled them- selves into military companies preparatory to giving battle to the latter. Lonpon, Aug. 5.—There has recently been a startling increase of outrages on girls ol tender years. Ina single day six miscre- ants were convicted at Liverpool, and other cases are reported elsewhere. The increase is attributed to the influence of the Pall Mall Gazette's recont exposure. The Gazette contends that there has been no in- crease, but that cases of outrages are simply brought into greater prominence. Toronto, Aug. 5. Yesterday afternoon 27 half-breed prisoners, who participated in the troubles at Batoche, were arraigned at Regina on a charge of treason-felony. All pleaded guilty, and were held for sentence. Four were held in $400 and their own recognizances to appear for sentence when called upon. It is believed they will be sentenced to short terms of imprisonment. To-day t#reo more half-breed prisoners were arraigned, pleaded guilty, and were held for sentence. Thero is vory little interest now manifested in these trials.
