Fare only 65 cents, : a A Freak or Narure.—In the same tent with the horse Edison, at the Miscouche tea, was another very remarkable freak of nature, owned by Mr. J. Albert Brennan, Tignish, in the shape of a stuffed skin of a caif with two heads, two breasts, two tails and six legs, all perfectly formed and most curiously joined. This curiosity was the progeny of a cow at Tignish, and Mr. Brennan intends exhibiting it or disposing of it to some museum.—Agriculturist. i tee Maritime Coir Srakes,—It is under- stood that if the Maritime colt stakes races are awarded to Halifax over Char- lottetown’s highest tender the Island horsremen will draw their horses, and it is likely that races will be held here on the came days August 2lst and 22nd. B., the Woodstock cricket club defeated the first Fredericton team by one inning and 33 runs. In the evening the visitors were entertained ata ball given in their honor. On the Queen’s Birthday the same team defeated one from St John. Mr. A. E. He was aclerk ina large wholesale house and used the telephone constantly. At certain periods his ealls were answered by a sweet voice which seemed to soothe his tired, wornout neryea and strengthen him wonderfully.. He grew to listen for that voice, dreamed of it, and finally it became a part of his life. One evening in the theatre he heard it. be- hind him and recognized it at once. For a long time he sat as one dazed and dare not look at the possessor of the voice, for fear he wouid be disappointed. But he wasn’t, and now they’re engaged. > REMARKABLE SHOOTING AT TRURO (Halifax Recorder.) Private Burns, 63rd, was visiting in Truro yesterday, and with Lieut. Cribb and Dover, 78th, went out to the range for a practice shoot. The day was beau- tifal for shooting, as a result splendid scores were made by the _ trio— Buras making 96, Cribb 95 and Dover 93. The remarkable part of the shooting was at the long ranges, 500 and 600 yards, Cribb making 69 out of a possible 70, and Burns 68, which will rank with the best scores made in Canada at these ranges.
