7 THE CADRE, OCTOBER '29, 1974.. PAGE 4. Executive Corner- The one they were backed into PHOTb BY GORDON COFFIN The cards have been processed and they have been mailed from the Moncton office. Speaking of money from the Business Office, the U.P.E.I.' Student Union was paid $54,000 on Friday (by cheque) from the Well, since I escaped relat— ively unscathed in the last edition of the CADRE, it's a very definate incentive to keep things that way. This ‘ column will be~in every one or two weeks and as inform— ative as possible. There have been numerous questions that have been ask- ed and here are some answers. Students, especially those -in Biology, have labs which must be checked regularly ‘yand these checking times often fees that were collected at Registration. There are a couple of thousand more that are still owing. There seem to be a lot of ‘ students walking around cam- pus asking about where their $40 goes after the Student fall at such odd hours as 11:30Un10n gets it but haVen't p.m. or early, hours of the morning. Although it is real- ized that visitors parking lots are out of bounds to stu— dents at all times, the Sec— urity Police are not as uné reasonable as all that. A little courtesy goes a long way!!! HOW COME!! In actuality things aren't as bad as they seem. Paper has gone up in price. Also, volume has a very definate role in this consideration. The higher the volume, espec~ ially on duplicate copies of the same sheet rather than different ones, the lower is the price. Rental is also paid on the Xerox machine and the Library buys the paper and the toner above the rental. All is not lost. Negotiat— ions are presently being look— ed over for a package deal with the inclusion in the new library of a coin operat- ed duplicator at 5c a copy. I was also.asked why there 'was no telephone in Duffy Building. Well, there are pub: lic telephones in the library, Bernadine Hall, and Marian Hall which are not far away. There used to be public tele— phones in Memorial Hall a a couple of years ago but they were ripped off the wall so many times they were complete— ly removed. I imagine that the University Administration feels that Duffy building which is open 24 hours a day, would probably lose its tele~ phones in the same way. Rumour has it that the Blue Cross cards have not arrived because the Business Office is holding back the money for seen any drop in lately to look over the Auditors report. (And, by the way, you do not need to be a business major to read it. It's in English!) So for those dejected people here is a little information taken from the audit which should help a bit. INCOME Executive, Jane & Mickey (approx!) 11,750 $52,960 salaries Dear Miss Smallwood, A pat on the back goes out to you my friend; A pat on the back and a thank you for your letter. I am quite pleased that someone has finally written about my article. Allow me to reveal my real reason for writing the article and my real feelings towards children. I have seen a lot of artic— les published with no reaction whatsoever. I decided to see exactly how much I could say;‘ \ \and how many different issues I I could touch on before rec- zeiving a reaction. I decided to make my first 1 topic children. Why children? kWhy not Pig 'n' Whistles of ‘football players? I chose the Insurance. Children are very beautiful Practice What one preaChes people. Children and the aged before one goes on to condemn are the only two groups of people in‘this world who know what life really is. Children know because they have not been put through the mill so to speak. The aged know because they’ve been through it all. I have a great deal of respect for both groups because they both live life to the fullest. I know only too well what can be learned from children and I was once a child myself. A backbone at last a backbonef Doug Gallant Dear Yo, Well, I really think you, have a lot of gall writing such forceful articles about the laziness and apathy of the Student Union. One should others, no matter how condem— nable those others may be. For instance your position\ as "News Director" of CSUR is , a big farce. You receive a : salary of $18.75 per month for doing NOTHING, or damn close to it. Granted; that's not a fortune,_but it's $18.75 more than most people get at I CSUR who put in about 100% more time and effort.
