FIRST MINITER The first settled minister was Rev. John C. Sinclair, who was inducted February 15, 1843 with Rev. Mr. Keir, Rev. Mr. Patter- son and Rev. John Geddie taking part in the service. From early re- cords it would appear that Mr. Keir preached, Mr. Patterson ad- dressed minister and people. and Mr. Geddie preached a ' "'1 sermon. Rev. Mr. Sinclair serv- ed the con egation for nine years. He was oilowed in 1855 by Rev. Allan Fraser whose entire minis- try of fifteen years was spent in Alberton. The families of his ex- tensive territory wene scattered and in the first years of his minis- try much of the travelling was by horseback. In 1085 the sections of West Cape. Brae and Campbell- ton separated from his congrega- tion to forth a new one, leaving him with Alberton. Cascumpec, Bloomfield. Montrose and Tignish. The hardships of mlnist to so large a field broke down his health and in 1070, at the early age of forty-five years. he pas- sed to his reward. Older people of .the community can recall the ef- fection, pride and respect with which their parents spoke of Mr. Fraser.
