OUR COMMUNITY. ,. i We, at I-iolman's, are very proud of having an organization capable of i serving the Communities that make up Prince Edward Island. ...and. I when we say Communities,'we mean all the sections of this Island Prou- ince. Also, we are proud of the position that the members of our Staff hold in these Communities. It is not so long ago since it was thought that a person who worked in I store, did so because he was unable to find more suitable or pleasant work. He was generally obliging, but lacked drive and initiative. He had a smattering of knowledge of the articles he sold and was generally a "Jack of all trades and master of none". Mind you, all store people did not fall into this classification but it was believed that most did. Due to the working hours, they eould take little interest in community affairs and had little time for social activities. We are glad that these conditions have changed. We are glad, because we honestly feel that the new. expertly trained members of our Staff can serve you more intelligently by reason of the imowiedge of the products in his or her particular department. We are glad, because we know you will receive courteous treatment from someone who takes a friendly and sincere interest in your needs. We are glad. because we feel sure you will appreciate being assisted and advised by a person who has the time to be able to take an interest and assist in the welfare of the Community, On our staff, we have people actively interested in Civic Affairs: activl officers in the Red Cross; the Tuberculosis League; the Hospital Boards: practically every Service Club includes members from our organization; Fraternal Organizations, such as the Masons and the Knights of Colum- bus. have a large representation. In fact, there is hardly a public service organization in the Province that has not at least one member in one branch whom we are proud to count as a member of our Staff. We en- courage the participation of our Staff Members in these activities, not for any reason of selfish gain, but because we firmly believe that active par- ticipatlon in outside service activities in the Community; makes a person a better type of citizen. We feel, that the members of our Staff, in their daily work, are piaying I worth while part in improving the living conditions of this Province. By supplying you with the comforts, necessities and conveniences of present day living and by advising you in the selection and operation of these conveniences, they are assisting you in a more healthful, restful and com- fortable llfe. A life that is more than an existence. A life that is made up of pleasurable living. We are certainly proud that our Staff is privileged to be able to do this for you. in order to be sure that our Staff can fulfil the position they should hold and to take on the responsibilities of their particular occupation. we have rodoubled our Training Program. We have become even more selective in our program of engaging new Staff. Our temporary Staff, used dur- ing such busy times as sales, the Christmas season. etc.. is receiving much more careful training and screening to ensure that we have the type of Staff Member of whom we an be iuetlg proud. We feel that our Staff Members are filling a mu worth while place in our Community. We are proud to be associated with each and every one of them. We know that they have your interests at heart and are capable of giving you intelligent. correct information and service of P. E. I. ERS'DE 4: cu-IARL0Tig
