Hanna nan MAO!-IINIRY uomacm ‘ The first floor includes a reception room, nurses sit- ting room, kitchen, bath, three 'bedrooms, and the matron's quarters compris- ing sitting room, bath and bedroom. - The second floor is com- prised entirely of bedrooms, eight in number, and bath- room. The residence will be oc- cupied by eleven nurses and matron. ' The building, erected by the County Construction Company, is heated by hot water from a central heat- ing unit in the hospital. The heating equipment \vas in- stalled by MacLcod anti Greene of Montague, and. the plumbing was done by Bevan Brothers. of Char- lottetown. Mr. Gilbert Cle- ments of Montague, com- pleted the wiring through- out the building. The interior is completed in Gyproc and painted. W. Matheson, and Hon. B. Earle MacDonald, Minister of Health and Welfare, will be the guest speaker. Following the opening ceremon- ies, lunch will be served during will be open to public inspection. The residence, began in August of last year and completed in December, is approximately fifty-five feet long and thirty-two feet \vide. It provides a much needed adjunct to the hos- pital which requires a con- siderable nursing staff in view of the fact that it is :1 thirty-one adult bed hospital together with thirteen bas- sinettes. The management of the hospital is under the very capable direction of of Mrs. Vera MacDonald, R.N.. matron. The Hospital Board in- cludes B. N. Hooley, chair- man; T. M. Llewellyn, Dr. P. Mclntyre, John A’; MacDon- aid, Leslie Hunter, Judge J. S. DesRoches, Mrs. H. T. Jamieson, Mrs. Florrie White, and Mrs. B. H. Yeo. Mr. G. Arnold Wightman is secretary-treasurer. New Nurses’ Residence, Montague we Following considerable discus- sion a few years ago regarding the necessity of such a nurses‘ residence, a committee was torm- ed to Iook into the feasibility of a plan to erect such a building.
