Dear Srr,—When dry goods are im- ported into Torento, Montreal, Quebec, St. John, Halifax, or other large plaees in the Dominion, the Custom authorities take one out of every five or ten packages for examination and appraisement. Here in Charlottetown every package has to be opened, examined and appraised by the Customs. I need not dwell on the trouble and inconvenience thus occasioned. Every importer here can speak of that feelingly ; but I would ask, why should Charlottetown merchants be subjected: to so much more treuble and loss of time than merchants elsewhere ! : The time for importations to arrive will soon be here.
