The new steamer, now ruunii g on the route to P. E. Island, is a very fine boat, containing all the comforts and many of the luxuries of modern travrl at sea. MCLBOD, of the Prince of Wales College, has very kindly placed on our tableia box of mammoth strawberries of the Bubach and Crawford varieties, that would simply “astonish the natives.” Two of the luscious beauties weighed 2§ ounces, and sixteen fille l a quart measure- ment. The Crawford strawberry is the product of probibly the greatest straw- berry grower on the continent——Mr. Crawford, of Ohio—who presented Prof. McLeod with half a dozen plants. Under the l’rofessor’s treatm-nt this variety has shown itself to be remarkably adapted to this country. It is not likely that any one in the Province could pyoduce a box of finer or larger berries t an those laid on our table. Prof. McLeod has made a specialty years, and his success should lead others to do likewise. If the government could only make it worth the Professor’s while to impart some of his knowledge on fruit culture to his boys at the college,_it might stimulate a new and general in- dustry that would bring thousands of dollars to the Province. -10} Hotel Arrivals. osaonxs HOUSE.
