Death oF PrinterR.—The death of Mr. Patrick Whelan occurred at his mother’s residence, on Grafton street, on Saturday last. He scrved his apprentice- ship in this city in the office of the late Hon. Edward Reilly,and afterwards worked in the varieus cities of the United States. Five years ago his health began to fail and he returned to his native city, where he spent the remainder of hia life- time. He was a mest intelligent crafteman and earnestly beloved by his fellow work- men—a large number of whom attended his funeral obsequies. A Cricket.—A very interesting game of cricket was played at the Park en Saturday afternoov, between the Phcenix, and the Crescent crickst clubs, in whieh the Cres- cent came off the victers, by 86 runs. We believe these two clubs are at a generous rivalry with one another, and that beth are striving io produce the best cricketers. This is the way tosucceed. If a foreign teaia again comes to Charlottetown, it may be possible to pick out eleven cricketers from these two clubs, who will make it as pleasant as possible for the foreigners, and yive them an oppertunity te hunt the leather in quick time. We would like to see many more matches between these two clubs before the eummeris out.
