George Key Jr. at the regular council meeting Monday. Coun. Key explained that the existing regulations require considerable revision to align them with fair and accepted utility practice. Regarding multiple occupancy premises the regulations now state that “in all new construc- tion of apartments or multi-unit premises and or where premis- es are remodelled multi- unit occupancy, each houdehold shall be provided with a separ- ate meter and be billed under the domestic rai-3." One report complained that one dealer shipped potatoes to Newfoundland for 90 cents per bushel and that others were selling as low as $1.60 to $1.65. though the St. John's board of trade urged that no potatoes be sold for less than $2.00 to $2.15 per bag.
