Otter with reference to the period of service in South Africa a despatch was yesterday regeived by the Militia Department from Chamberlain enclosing one from Roberts in which hecalls attention to the difs ference in the forms of elistment between English volunteers and the corps of the Canadian regiment. The former, it appears, were enlisted for one year whereas the term of s-rvice for the Canadians for one year terminates on the 15th ot October. The Command er-in~Cbief aske that the Canadians be given permission ;to remain in South Africa for two or three months after the expiration of their term of ealistment.
