April 25. 1963 y l Runaway Car : Stopped By Fence, Pumps MONTAGUE — A freak acci- dent occurred last evening at Montague when a car driven by i George MacKinnon of Brooklyn. had its brakes give away on the Wood Island hill while approach- ing the main street Mr. MacKinnon was able to manoeuvere his car to make the turn into Doug’s service sta- tion to avoid traffic erd in doim‘ so his vehicle was halted in its wild flight by a lincfence. How ever the- car then backed down a slope colliding with one of the gas tanks, knocking it from its base and causing it to ignite.
