Hochelaga was made to Ottawa by the Charlottetown Board of Trade at a meeting of the Council of the Board yesterday morning. In reply to previous correspondence the fol- lowing communlcation_ was read from Mr. W. Chester S. McLure. MP. Dear Mr. Kennedy:-Replying to your wire re B. S. Hochelaga, I may say that it ia not a. matter of how much the Government will save by the discontinuance of the service on Oct. 31st, but it is more a mut- ter of how 'much loss can be avert- ed to the B. S. Hochelaga. Yours faithfully, W. Chester B. McLure. Mr. McLure had wired the Board previously pointing out that the Hochelaga’s net earnings for 1932 were about one'-half the earnings of last year up to Sept. 30, and that in view oi' the fact that earnings for No..mber would be about $800. the agent of the steamer had ask- ed from Ottawa to have the ser- vice discontinued. On Oct. 31, in- stead of the end of November as heretofore. The wire asked for the opinion of the Board on the mat- ter. The Board despatched a wire in- quiring if the Government would make any saving on subsidy pay- ments if the service were discon- tinued. 'Ihe communication re- ceived yesterday from Mr. McLure. quoted above, is ln reply to the Boards inquiry. After discussion, participated in by Messrs, E. T. Higgs, R. l~l. Mutcli. S. A. MacDona`d, R.
