WiiuiaM Steap, of Wheatley River, noticed fora number of days past a wild stranger among his geese. He made several attempts to capture him, but was unsuccessful. Last evening he watched his chance and succeeded in shooting the visitor, which turned ont to be a white swan, of large size. It measured four feet nine inches from the tip of the bill to the tip of the foot, and six feet six inches from the tip of one wing to the tip of the other. Where did it come from ? We have just Jearned with pleasure that the young men attending the Birch Hill Church, Lot 49, have resolved that in future they will give nothing but silver at the Sabbath collections. This isa step in the right direction, and it fulfils the Scrip- tural injunction which says: ‘* Honor the Lord with thy substance, and with the first fruita of all thine increase,’?’ and God says in return, ‘Them that honor Me I wi! honor.” The Birch Hill young men have therefore the honor of being the first to set an example, which, we trust, will be exten- sively followed by the young men of other Churches, and thus put a higher value upon the religion of Jesus, for if religion bo any- thing it is everything, and if it be not everything it is nothing. —_ ae St. Joseph's Bazaar. i Following is the result of the voting for the most popular lawyer, conductor, etc., up to half-past two o'clock to-day :— POPULAR LAWYER.
