Lobster Fisherman Start Day Earlier ”rhe lobster season gets under wny a day earlier this year so fishermen are being permitted to run lines and traps on the last. day oi April. although they are til the nrst day of May. This is a change in the ruling which in the past called for line running on the first day oi May, the oflicial open- ing day. Another change noted this year is that oi the method oi measur- ing the lobsters. The inrmer nie- thod of seven inches overall length for csnners has been changed to 2?. inches carapace measure from the eye socket to the back of the body shell. Actually this does not involve a great difierence in the overall length. and if anything makes it a little shorter. All along the east. coast. of the Island and the North Shore fish- ermen are making last. minute preparations for line running day on April 30th. New traps, rope and newly painted hosts dot the shore- line as fishermen make ready to move to their base of operations. several boats from Montague and Lower Montague are moving to Launching and North Shore. while others will be fishing out of Georgetown , and landing their WE'RE MAKlN' A POWER VACHT. Teachers The Montague Home and school Assmiation went on record last evening as favoring the raising of teacher training standards in a resolution passed at a meeting held at the High School. Dr. G. 8. A. Inman presided. the reading or correspondence re- iorring to the possible proposed lowering or training standards ior teachers. It was the feeling or the meeting that even "resent stand- ards should be raised to the better- ment the praisssion as a whole. The llowing resolution was moved by Mr. Vernon Macu.-an and Beck: "whereas st the spring session of the Provincial Legislature of Prince Edward Island a proposal was made thst. teacher training standards be lowered in order to relieve the shortage of teachers, "and whereas it is the opinion of the Montague Home and school Association that such a move would be s backward step and would lead to a general deteriorat- ion ofour educational standards, "be it therefore resolved that the Mont-Igue Home and school As- sociation go on record as being op- posed to any lowering of teacher training standards. "be It further resolved that the minister of Education be urged to consider the advisability or rais- ing the present stsndsrds." New business brought up the subject attendance or Mani- tilue sc 01 children at the Mus- ical Festival to be held st Char. lottetown. It was decided that the Home and School Association would attempt. to provide trans- portation ior school children part- icipsting in the festival. It was proposed that school children who wished to attend should be pro. vided with an opportunity at doing 50: however. since this would pre- sent certain problems, it was de- cided to discuss the matter further beiore d-cvfinite plsns were formul- sled. Before concluding the meeting, Dr. lnman informed the members that. the wheel Board would be calllna an open meeting in the near iuture to hear the report of the committee set up at. the last annual meeting to. look into the proposal of erecting it new high school at Montague. He urged the mdfnbera to attend snd participate in the discussions. seconded by Mrs. Ralph MILITARY GENIUS Napoleon was promoted a brig- ade general at the age of 24. after the capture of Toulon in 1703. .
