The line- men had just lighted a firs in the stove and were going about other work, when a. blaze suddenly broke out, quite a little distance away from the flue. One of the linemen, Earl Rom, ran immediately for the hose line, while the other, Alvin Ford, tel- ephoned the Fire Department. While awaiting the nri-ival of ' the latter, the men directed the stream of water through a window, wetting down the stock in the room, which consisted of thousands of dollars worth of new transformers, coils of covered wire, insulators, etc. The fire quickly reached the loft and was burning briskly when the firemen arrived, only a short time after the sending in of the alarm. About an hour's work was required before the danger was past. The linemen are to be commended on their quick action, which saved the valuable stock stor- ed in the building. __________.__ PERSONALS Mr. John Mustard, M.L.A., Cardi- gan, was in the city yesterday.
