Mr. Sherk's appointment to head H. J. Heinz Company of Canada marks a further step in a policy adopted some years ago to make the Canadian company autonom- ous. In addition, the appointment provides an example of the com- pany's policy of promotion from within. Frank Sherk began working for the Heinz Company in 1919 at the age of 15 as an hourly paid worker in the Leamington factory. Nine years later. he was transferred to sales and subsequently served that department in Hamilton. Toronto and Timmins before returning to Toronto in 1932. Following several promotions within the sales depart- ment. he was elected a director of the Canadian company in 1949. A few months later he was apnolnted general sales manager for Canada. Mr. Crimp, a native of Vancou- ver. has been with the company since 1925. He served as a mem- ber of the sales department in various capacities in Vancouver. Toronto. Winnipeg and Montreal , before becoming eastern sales man- I anger in 1949. Mr. Gervals began his Heinz career in Montreal in 1932 and served there until his appointment as sales promotion and advertising manager in 1949. Mr. Loftus joined Heinz in Hamilton in 1937 and has represented the company in St. Catharines. Winnipeg and Mont- real.
