' (continued from third page) , Wednesday evening was devoted to a plea from meeting in the interests of ‘participated Mrs. Clark of Freder- Nalder of Wlndor. The first speaker was Mrs. Ira M. Smith whose subject was Home Missions. She dealt principally with some of the reasons urged against Home Missions as compareddwlth Foreign Mlcslonp viz: support-lug a small church in some in i‘; rural district ls considered by some a needless expense. In answer to that letltbo known that if these little churches , are not kept allvc what lsto become of the the principles which aredear to us as a denomination! If we as Baptists fall to teach them it is not in the nature of things to expect them to be taught at all. Again from these little obscure churches come some of our cblect and strongest men, men who fill conic of the foremost positions in our oltlee with credit to themselves. Look at the great Northwest, our own fair homeland. People fromevery nation are locking into Canada and it ls our duty toglve them the Gospel. Ours is the opportunity. A _ Solo “What of the Home‘ was beauti- fully rendered by Miss Hatch ‘cf Wolfvllle. The next speaker was Mrs. I. C. Archibald one of our returned mission arles. Her subject was the Foreign Field. In her own inevitable manner our sister held the attention of the audience ac she showed that God's pro- mises dependent upon the ‘fulfillment of certain conditions. Abraham was called of God and to hlm were given certain promises on certain dltions. Tbesscondltloiis were not ful- filled and 71s that the Isrealltes instead of possessing the promised land are scattered‘ over the face of the earth. There are giants in the land to-day and the church of God ls afraid a: them. “Go ye luto all the world and preach the Gospel to every creature in Christ's last command. Some who call themselves God's people tell us that somehow in the great love and mercy of God the heathen will be saved whether we send them the Gospel or not. This is one of the giants abroad to-day.Another giant is the fear ofthe cxpenseof missions. We needthis autumn on our Foreign field three mission families, one for the Savaras, one fora new station adjoining- lng Tekali, and one to go tothe assistance of Mr. Sanford at Vlzlanagram. Are we ackingtoomuch of the church of God when we ask for these three families? Take God's word for the answer He has given to His Church the great commis- slon. His penple are stewards of the manifold grace of God. Are we going to be faithful to Christ who gave himself fora lost world. In the famine of98 and 99, in one county in India 10,000 people starved to death, although enou gh food for them was stored in a granary owned by one man who was surely not a good steward of what was in hie posses- sion. Lot us not be like that man unfaith- ful stewards of the Bread of Life. The next address was given by Rev. L. D. Morse another of our missionaries on furlough. Mr. Morse said he did not intend to spend much time describing the countryto which he expects to return this autumn. Listening to Mrs. Archibald had led his mind back to India. viii-h its thousands of mud huts and the more stately residences of the higher classes. India is no imaginary laud. ‘Tis age in India may be compared to the stars of Heaven though the stars may be very briLhL ones. We need no eloqu n‘. speeches to enlist our sympathies, what we need is the will to do as we are told which is simply serving God. None of us like sham. Christ says “Why call ye me Lord and do not the things which I say”. call ourselves the servants of God, are we or are we not? To serve the Lori is simply to do his will. Christ willeth not the death of one sinner. Are we doing His will ue less ' we strive to the utmost of our abiliy to give the Gospel to Lhe perishiug millions in India. ‘When God called Anu-zca bu lead the cnildren oi Israel lvloses begun to “Goand I will be with tiles." The same can be said of Jeremiah, of Soul of Tents and 0t many others ewen lire singles of Heaven have no business of ill/ill‘ own, it is illeirs" m do ilwy are: told. When croup attacks our child you must be ready for it. t comesas inn accompaniment to an ordinary cough, or it may attack without warning. All ills of children develop quickly, and when any kind ofcough appears there should be something at hand to stop it with promptness: Many a child has choked to death with croup because the right remedy was not convenient. Every one shouldknow that the right safeguard for a cinlds cough or any cough is Adamsonb Botanic Cough Balsam. With this sooth- ing compound in the house, croup is al- ways easily checked and relieved. ‘lo giye a child a “cough mixture” containing anarcotic is a very serious matter, yet most preparations contain something of this kind. Adamsods Botanic Balsam is prepared from the pur- est exiracts 0' barks and roots and gums of trees, and is bealthgiviug in every com- ponent part of it. Where ever it touches an inflamed surface, it heals and soothes it. Nothing every compounded for cough is so hliflllifiofl, and nothing so effecacious.
