This article is written for those unfor— tunate people who for onereason or another can— not watch it daily or even on Fridays. It is this writer‘s intention — to keep you intuned to what is happening on the most popular of Soaps, Another World. Because of the catplexities of Another World, one plot will be presented weekly to avoid any confusion for those people who are unaccosthed to the char- acters. This week's plot deals with, the Oory's; next week, 'Ihe mdolphs. last Friday, Rachal Cory is in hospital £01.— lowing a traumatic exper— ience in which she was rescued by her loving husband whom she has 4 been separated from and hardly speaking to for some time. To recap: On the day that Rachal Cory, was kidnapped, she was about to go to Colorado to obtain a divorce from her husband, MacKenzie. Her reasons for doing this were simple, Sven, Mac's housekeeper's "cousin" had told Mac that he had impregnated the housekeep— er's daughter, Rageena. Mac had no reason not to disbelieve Sven as Rageena (more or less) supported Sven's accusations. Besides Sven had nothing to gain by lying—- or did he? Rageena however, knew that while she was most certanly pregnant it was not by the rich Mac Cory but by the only man she ever loved —-,Cliff. She into Sven's hands, for Sven, once Rageena was married to the rich, and unsuspect- ing Mac Cory, was going to do Mac in and ]ive the life of a contented happy-go— lucky millionaire. However, his boat was rocked when Rocky (Mac's ex—chauffer and a man suspicous of Sven) was found by Jaimie, (Mac's stepson by Rachal's last marriage to Steve Frame, Jainie came before Steve's marriage did, and Dennis, Mac's grandson) ,in the water under the boathouse bludgeon- ed and stuffed into a big plastic bag. Rageena, who was also present when Rocky was discovered realized that Sven would go to any length to achieve what he wanted and decided to blow the whistle. She told Mac that he was not the father of her baby— - a fact that relieved and puz- zled Mac — but that Cliff the only man she ever loved, was the father. Now Mac under- stood (little did Rageena know that Cliff had had a messy - affair with Molly Randolph, nee, Molly Frame,(Steve's niece) , and had caused Molly and her husband to break up their young marriage. Nfidless to say Mac set out to tell Rachal who hadn't had a decent thing to say to him since she found out about 'that woman' before she left for Colorado where she had finally decided to obtain a quidc divorce whidi was no longer necessary. They did not realize however that Sven had been listening at the patio doors and knew about their scheme. He quid<ly drew up an alternate plan. At this point in the story Sven is a desperate fugative who is want— ed for questioning by the ‘law concerning Rock's unfortunate demise. Sven follows Rachal to ‘the gallery that handles her valuable art pieces, and app- rehends her there while she is waiting for Helena , who is a Countess, manager of the gallery and a good friend of Iris Bank— croft, Mac Oory's daughter, even though Rachal abhors her (Helena is after the young Dr. Russ Matthews/but more on that later) , to photocopy her sketches which are tobe sent to an art dealer. Sven takes" Rachal to a pump house on Mac's estate, no less and holds her ransom for $500,000, not an un— reasonafle sum since Mac is a millimaire and Radial is Mac's lost love. By the time Radnal's friends and relatives figure out some- thing is amiss Rachal has could not divulge this infor— . mation to Mr. Cory, however, for fear that Sven would kill her mother, the housekeeper. Mac, of course insisted upon doing the honorable thing and proceeded to get a divorce from Rachal - the only woman he'd ever love, and marry Rageena. All this while Radial has been telling Mac that she plans to divorce him, much to Mac's protests. Now, when Mac agrees on a divorce, Rachal discovers what she thinks is a sordid affair between a servant and her employer and refuses to allow Mac to divorce her. Little did NBC know that by divorcing Rachal and marry- ing Rageena he was playing Color fibntqfi 33 532) 313mm}: _—u.t any kinki— Qtuntatt he ZBmmeIIp at the , $6333 or phone ---4—3307" ' aged considerably-being held for ransom is a traumatic ordeal indeed Various exchanges are made by Sven on tape casettes before Mac ‘ recognizes that the "strange noise" in the background is indeed' the punphouse whereupm he crastes down the door after he ascertains that Mchal is being held captive inside the barren .shack. mohal tells Mac to hurry as Sven is due back any moment and pro- ceeds to waste precious minutes burying Mac with hugs and kisses which he obligingly returns. While they are hugging and kissing Sven returns. I item is a struggle be- tween Mac and Sven and when we tune in anday—as even events like this always occur on Friday-we are relieved to note that Mac . with some aid of the local police force has succesfully subdued Sven. While Sven is being hand- cuffed Mac looks for Rachal only to discover, :11 her lying in a comttcse '3 ’ state by the pump. the can correctly assume that Mohal has fallen and hit her head on the pump. It is at this point were we rejoin Rachal in the hospital. Ma MacGowan, (Rachal's widowed mother), Jamie and and NBC wait nervously to hear how lechal is doing. Dr. Zemmerman, head of neurosurgery, allows Ada ‘to see lachal but at mohal's request, has forbidden Mac per mission to enter the : room. Mac is under— standably upset. But Inchal does not want Mac to see her in her state— Rachal has become in- ' ‘ voluntary blinded! Zimmerman does-not yet'know if it is temp- orary or permant.
