Hats off to these bbys for the stong showing and good effort. Congratelations Korakin for you first IIIL title. ' By CIMN Well, how goes it? This is the final issue of the Sun for 1980-8] and it's time to recap a little his- tory in Woten's Intramurals. ("Triviology" for all you Biology majors.) ' \ Woten's Intraurals got off to a terrific start with four teams carpeting for the softball title. If you recall, the Tignish Trio made superb performances but lost out to Bernie ] "for a case of .Louienbrau. Bernie 2 wasn't even close for competition and Daze V students should have fold— ed. ' 'Ihe Broonball Champs fir- st-,semester were Dazeli students (YEH!) . Then Bern- ie 2 showed them in the se- cond semester. " In the basketball scene Bernie 2 proved to be "Glo- betrotters Plus" as they. whipped every team in the league. . .Perhaps a" mJinber of a- pologies are in order to a ‘ few of the participants; First and foremost, my 3- pologies to VINCE. I'm‘ sorry .for not in- . to this job further“ It was terrible and burdening. No, seriously Vince good luck in finding smeone ' ' for net year's column. [Perhaps you can find sore- one as dedicated as this ‘ . <1? year's writer. \ Korakin 'captukres title Last week in intramurals This game signalled another ending in the 3sportswor1d as the franchise of Mean bit the . dust. This team, during their four years at UPEI, has won a baseball title, football title, hockey _ title, and also a‘ few hockey tournaments. You also have .totopyour hat to the.M&M squad because they played with théir hearts in every—- thing they did and never quit. This is what made the franchise great. let's just hope there will be more teams like M&M in the future. Nmeers of M&M are David Beaton, Sandy MacDonald, 'IXerry Palmer, Phillip Brown, Shane Moaghan, David Connolly, Steve Burden, Dave MacPherson, Bill Griffen, and Ostrich. Another team that . played with enthusiam was the underdog team of _ Blanchard Hall. This team did not figure too well during the regular season but did a hell of a lot in the playoffs. They won the first two games of the playoffs but then went out two straight, but the games they lost were both by only one goal. This was the Cinderella team of the playoffs. \Although they didn't have the talent to ( win it all, they got every- thing from everybody on the team. In ball hockey the Hockey Panthers went to the finals by defeating ‘ the Heads 4-1. The Heads, with an excellent squad, ran into a hot goalie - "The Raging Bull" - and could not put anything by him. This team was favoured to win the tour— nament and are doing every—,— thing expected of them. They meet Marian Hall for the championship. plays as good as he did against" us, the Panthers should win easily. Vince is the best To Blanchard» Hall, "home .of the Whopper" (that's a private one!) Many thanks are extended to Jude Mac- Donald who helped treren—.: dously in putting together a team. Tignish's Trio should not be forgotten— wait and see them in act- ion next fallll Rumour ' hath it'that the reason Andree Cambell plays for the Tackroom Broonball team is so she can part- icipate in Intraurals. What dedication buddy?! To Anne '(Fort) Knox who demoted herself from Bernadine Hall to Blanchard decided to re- tire fronbasketball. I guess she figured they were .‘ too far Daze students should not be forgotten. Eliz"sleaze' Zinc was certainly a super- star who beamed in the lime light. Ask Eliz why she is named sleaze and she'll tell you a story regarding the VIA train in Monoton and the Park House Inn. Kiml"Cookie", what can I say? The only reason you read Woten's Intramural-S was to read about your tal- ' ents . Unfortunately Kim, this issue-is censored and your talents for this week re- main buried. . 1 Mary 'W'ump" 'Morrision is offering free lessons in ART OF SHOOTING BASKETBALIS" . You've” been V a great sport kid! Thanks for suppying me with news for my column. For Bernie 2, well, when you have a ninty % turnout for every event, you're certain to give the opposi— tion a good run for their money. Superstars such as R. Murphy, C. MacAulay, Ja- ckie Doran, and P. Moran led Bernie 2 on to victory and .spirit. My deepest thanks go out p to Jackie Doran, second floor R.A. Jackie was the of crude and unde- serving contents but (glad- ly) she took-no offence. What do ya say, Abdule? Have you dunked it yet? Finally Bernie 1.
